But their placid life is soon to be changed after the three buddies enlist in the airborne infantry to go to Vietnam. So they all celebrate a goodbye at Steven's wedding and they leave for Vietnam. They are captured by the enemy and forced to play games of Russian Roulette to amuse their guards. They escape and Mike returns home to find Nick has stayed in Vietnam and Steven is handicapped after losing his legs and the use of one arm after the escape. HiI rented - it stated rental good for 24 hours. Rented on Saturday around 3:10. When I went to watch it on Sunday a bit after 11, it stated have to rent again! What a bummer. I was doing a research paper for a class and wanted to rewatch to see if anything else needed to be stated on my paper! What a ripoff.

You got it, Man. To warm a lonely night. One of the Great American films. Tied with bladerunner for my number 1. Amazing movie. I remember when this came out in theatres and me and my girlfriend went to see it. later, me and my buds had a get together with our girls and this movie came up in conversation. we all had seen it and started to discuss it. I clammed up and let them all talk. during the discussion of the movie, they all reverted to remember when they had done acts of destruction in their ashing mailboxes, throwing trash cans, jumping innocent people and all of that kind of mayhem. I said nothing but walked away knowing what pussy liars they all are were, having known them. lesson learned movie incited bravado in pussies at heart. one star outta five...

Makes me wonder how many young men across America gathered at the local bars, VFW halls, and other places, playing games, singing, patting each other on the back, joyful with not a care in the world, not knowing what horrors awaited them far from home. A joyful, yet sad, moment, repeated endless times by so many boys.

A great and powerful movie without a doubt. Thanks for the information. When Hollywood had talent, when the Oscars recognized that talent, and now, nothing but memories of an era that is gone forever. Man this was so emotional, to see john wayne. man, he was something else. rip, duke.

Poor man John wayne, he died 2 months later. But knowing john wayne he mustve been asleep when death took him, because had he been awake, there wouldve been a fight. That wedding scene alone had me absolutely in love. Such a perfect movie. Damn I thought the title was shown every 2 seconds because of copyright problems but then I realized it was the actual trailer... Classic. I'm pretty sure that viewers of that year's show who were John Wayne fans were crying that night. They knew that that was the last they'd ever see of him, I'm sure.
